We always hear about lunar eclipses happening and other than a few interested individuals most people don’t bother looking at it.

Except maybe saving a picture from Google and putting it on Facebook to get those likes. But tonight is a night you have to savour.

Tonight is the night when a supermoon will be coinciding with a lunar eclipse. The next time you’ll have a chance to do so is in 2033.

So what is a supermoon you ask? It’s the phenomenon that occurs when the moon is in the closest part of its orbit to the Earth.

So basically the moon will appear larger than usual. A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes the Earth directly behind.

The moon may look rust-coloured during a total lunar eclipse this is because the Earth's atmosphere scatters blue light more strongly than red light, and it is this red light that reaches the lunar surface.

The stages of the supermoon eclipse will be occurring in Bangladesh at:

Penumbral Eclipse begins — 06:11 (Bangladesh Standard Time)

Partial Eclipse begins — 07:07 (BST)

Full Eclipse begins — 08:11 (BST)

Maximum Eclipse — 08:47 (BST)

Full Eclipse ends — 09:23 (BST)

Partial Eclipse ends — 10:27 (BST)

Penumbral Eclipse ends — 11:22 (BST)

So make the best of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

To get the most out of it gather some mats and snacks.

Drag your loved ones from the computer room and chuck their phones.

Take them to the roof and observe this magnificent phenomenon. If you have a telescope or binoculars take them with you.

The weather forecast is stating clear skies for tonight!
