Selfies Don't Lie
Taking selfies at every celebration, especially for the youngsters, has become a global trend and when it comes to showing support for your favourite football teams, a selfie is a must to show off your preparation to be a part of the carnival.
To add a dose of fun to the football fever, The Daily Star in association with premium ice cream brand Mi Amore, held a World Cup selfie contest throughout the tournament. Readers were asked to take selfies wearing the jerseys of their favourite teams and post it on the contest's Facebook page.
'The Daily Star-Mi Amore World Cup Selfie Contest-2014' gave an opportunity for fans to show their true colours. Everyday during the tournament, one selfie -- selected from the Facebook album -- was printed on the sports page of the newspaper.
The prize giving ceremony of the contest took place on July 13 evening at The Daily Star Centre amid a festive mood.
Badhan Mazumdar of Mi Amore was present at the programme, along with Shahriar Shahid, Manager, Business Development of The Daily Star. They handed over prizes to the winners. Badhan Mazumdar said that Mi Amore was happy to be a part of the initiative. He added that the brand is new and in future it will bring new flavours for youngsters.
The month-long contest saw lively participation of people of different ages and generations. A contestant came from Chuadanga to take his prize. Barky Zodiac, winner of the day-1, said the contest was “exciting and fun.” Sheetal Neroula, another winner, said, “I took a selfie with my friend and shared it with people to show my love for Brazil.”
Nabila Mazid won the first prize for her selfie with her 81-days-old son who was wearing an Argentina jersey. Each of the winners received different prizes including mobile handset, digital camera and membership cards of Mi Amore ice-cream parlour. Following the programme, contestants enjoyed Mi Amore ice-cream.
