Custom Honda NSX 1:24 kit car from Tamiya
The NSX is the holy grail of Japanese automotive wizardry. Born in the 90's this car is surpassed by power output and electro-gadgetry. Yet, this still makes petrol-head knees quiver, showing the world that it's all about the fun you can have. If Ayrton Senna considered it one of his favorites, who are we to argue?
This particular machine is a 1:24 kit by Tamiya. This was the first generation NSX that was never offered in this shade of green. That's the beauty of plastic kits. You can do whatever your skills allow. This car has been lowered, a custom lip spoiler has been built from scratch and has the engine cover left out so that you can admire that beautiful 270 BHP V6. The full engine comes with everything except for a few wires and tubing. It was a tight squeeze painting the silver Honda logo on the red valve cover. The original wheels aren't the best looking rims, but painted white, they look a lot different from the stock aluminum units.
It was tempting to give it a track appearance with bigger Enkei rims I have as extras. But that would require much cuting that I wasn't willing to do on this. The goal was to keep all original lines and bring in subtle mods that enhance without giving the car a complete makeover. The interior comes wiht the option of either left hand drive or right hand drive version wiht appropriate steering wheels. I put on a much more interesting looking three spoke wheel fomr another kit instead of Hondas rather dull steering wheel for the first gen NSX.
The kit was extremely easy to put together. As usual, the paint and custom work delayed the process. It's a relatively inexpensive kit becuase it is the reissued base model. If you plan to build this only thing you should be very careful about are those extremely thin A pillars. I cracked one while prepping.
