All Turbo Show 2019
Biswas Imports and the Evo STi Owners Club Bangladesh partnered up and hosted the All Turbo Car Show on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at International Convention City Bashundhara. The Evo STi owners club has been hosting meets once a year, every year for the past seven years and this was their biggest yet.
Despite the looming threat of Cyclone Bulbul, the meet went on—people brought out their project cars, rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive alike. Hall 4, the heart of the event, had about 10 show cars parked inside, but the parking lot had their own share of attractions. Although it was an all turbo car show, there were a few naturally aspirated and supercharged cars. Lancer Evolutions to Subaru Imprezas, a myriad of Toyota JZXs, Starlets, Carinas, Celicas, a 2jz swapped Altezza—the list goes on.
"The main objective of the meet to was to represent the car community of Bangladesh and achieve recognition. I thank all my sponsors, the co-founder Hasan Ahmed Sajib and all the members of the club without whom this would not have been possible. We do not have race tracks or drag strips, but we would still like to represent our hobby and our community. We want everyone to drive safe, drive responsibly and enjoy the hobby as much as they can," said Foysal Mrittik, founder of the Evo-STI Owners Club and the main organiser of the event.
Later in the day, Honourable Mayor Atiqul Islam of Dhaka North City Corporation joined the meet, and presented a wonderful speech regarding the rising car community, but also spoke in detail about road safety awareness and the new laws that were recently implemented. Singer-songwriter Tahsan performed two of his greatest hits, followed by an award ceremony recognising and honouring the founder and co-founders of the Evo-STI Owners Club, alongside Avik Anwar—the first Bangladeshi to win a motorsport event on foreign soil. The mayor also promised a possibility of having a space dedicated for car enthusiasts once every week, where one can unwind their car without any public traffic interference.
