2016 Ford EcoSport Black Edition
Is it new?
Sort of. The Black Edition is like the EcoSport we've come to see and appreciate before as a very capable city car. Except this has more black thrown at it.
So, same car with new paint job?
Pretty much, sort of. Black Edition comes in different colors but with black wheels. And all the chrome is blacked out which is nice since I never liked the glitter and glare. But some may prefer the chrome. Thrown in are red painted calipers and rear drums. We'll leave that up to you to judge.
What should I know about it?
It's a compact crossover with very taut dimensions making it perfect for city maneuvers and easy, snappy parking. It will seat four adults comfortably. One more will fit in the center of the back seat but might complain occasionally on long journeys.
It's loaded with all the features you need. Power everything and an automatic transmission with a manual shifting option that helps to hold the revs for that enthusiast feel.
Safety?
Driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags. ABS, Traction control and stability control ensure you don't find yourself out of sorts taking a fast turn over a bathtub sized pothole filled with water.
Performance?
The 1.5 110 bhp engine is still there. And while it seems a little underwhelming on paper, it works well in real life. Power delivery is smooth but kickdowns during hard acceleration out of turns is delayed as if the car really, really wants you to save fuel. Which frankly is what this car is meant for: effortless, efficient city cruising.
Why should you get it?
Good wading depth. Decent front wheel drive handling. Spacious enough for a tightly packed city. The black car looks menacingly cute. You'll enjoy driving it in the city.
Price: 35.5 lakh taka with registration.
