There is no salvation. You stumble along through a post-apocalyptic terrain swamped with zombies waiting to grab you. They hobble along, undetectable through the thick fog, keeping pace with your slow, ragged breathing. Although that's the stereotypical formula for most zombie games, Into the Dead truly captures the underlying horror of the experience. 

The game leaves you stranded in a wasteland, overrun with zombies, where the goal is to survive as long as possible to attain the best distance travelled on the leader board. By completing in-game missions and accumulating gold coins, you can skip levels or unlock an arsenal which includes a pistol, automatic rifle, shotgun, chainsaw, and a new weapon pack: the four horsemen. Although you don't begin with a full arsenal, you need to locate and unlock the weapon crates while simultaneously dodging these man-eating monsters. 

This game has brilliant graphics and sound that make for a very high-intensity experience. The prevailing darkness throughout the game has an ambience akin to Night of the Living Dead (1968). There are three additional modes - Massacre, Hardcore and Flashlight- which add much-needed variety to an overplayed concept. While the regular pop-ups' are a bit frustrating, they aren't a total deal breaker. 

Into the Dead is nothing short of a terror-stricken experience that'll draw you in instantly. Highly addictive, it stands out in the overcrowded genre of perpetual-runner games. All in all, it's well worth the download.
