IUB hosts theatre workshop with Prof. Kaiulani Lee

IUB Theatre (the Theatre Club of Independent University, Bangladesh) organised a day-long workshop on November 4, 2016 for its members. Prof. Kaiulani Lee, a renowned theatre worker and adjunct professor from George Mason University, USA conducted the workshop. Momtaz Parvin, Faculty Member of IUB and Adviser of the Club, and a good number of alumni also attended the workshop. Later, Prof. Lee distributed certificates among the participants.

ULAB launches new BSc. EEE programme 

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) launched a new undergraduate programme - Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) - under the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the School of Science and Engineering on November 12, 2016.  The new 4-year programme, which recently received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC), has as its department Head, Prof. S M Mahbubur Rahman, and as its Dean, Prof. H M Jahirul Haque.  

Rabiul Alam, Managing Director of EnergyPac Engineering Ltd. and Sonia Kabir, Managing Director of Microsoft Bangladesh Ltd., graced the inaugural ceremony as guests of honour and addressed more than 100 ULAB administrators, faculty, staff and students. The launching video of EEE programme was released at the event. The Smart Tabs have also been distributed to the first batch of EEE students. The ULAB VC (Acting) Prof. Imran Rahman concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks.

The undergraduate programme aims to produce competent professionals, who possess excellent knowledge and skills in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering with adequate proficiency that enables them to compete successfully anywhere in the world. The programme consists of essential electrical and electronic courses coupled with a solid foundation of Mathematics and Physics. Given ULAB's unique education philosophy, students will also study a wide range of general and minor courses necessary to obtain a well-rounded education.

 

Workshop to meet the challenges of Accreditation Council at WUB

World University of Bangladesh organised "Workshop to meet the challenges of Accreditation Council" with the students of different faculties of the university for four days in the auditorium of the university. VC Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury graced the occasion as chief guest while Prof. Dr. M Nurul Islam, Pro-VC, Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, Registrar and Proctor were present. 

To comprehend the challenges of the forthcoming Accreditation Council, the authority of the university organised a 4-day workshop. The students made succinct evaluation of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the university and suggested some long term and short term strategies, tactics and policies to prepare the university in meeting the challenges of forthcoming Accreditation Council. It may be mentioned that an act governing the Accreditation Council has already been approved in the meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Accreditation Council will act as independent body to ensure successive quality enhancements in the country. The next workshop will be conducted soon, and based on all findings, a strategic plan to meet the challenges of the Accreditation Council will be developed. 

NSU holds "Club Fair 2016" 

North South University (NSU) held its annual day-long event "Club Fair 2016" on November 12, 2016, at NSU Bashundhara campus. NSU has proved itself to be worthy and proud as the custodian of twenty-two thousand students providing them with ample opportunities to set their inner strengths through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The annual Club Fair, among many other positive aspirations, is a platform to equip students with the tools to connect their knowledge and experience in a diverse and versatile manner. 

The inaugural ceremony was held in the morning where Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, BOT, NSU was the chief guest of the fair and Prof. Atiqul Islam, VC chaired the ceremony. After the formal inauguration, guests visited 20 club stalls representing each club of the university. Prof. Emdadul Haq, Director, Student Affairs, NSU delivered the welcome speech. Deans and other academic and administrative heads, faculty members, clubs members and students attended the fair.
