Hult Prize at the University of Dhaka: Breaking barriers of the pandemic

Hult Prize is among the biggest international startup competitions in the world that focus on engaging the youth to present startup ideas that can mitigate the expansion of social issues. Our very own Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has regarded this competition as the "Nobel Prize for students." The Hult Prize is taken into consideration as a global outcome of the partnership among the Hult International Business School and the United Nations Foundation.

This year's Hult Prize on-campus event at the University of Dhaka was initiated on September 27. As the students of the DU have been showing their expertise and talent through this entrepreneurial platform for the previous few years, this year was not any exception. The theme for this year's competition is "Food for Good" which goes hand in hand with the current socio-economic situation of the world. The Campus Director of the Hult Prize at the University of Dhaka, Abdul Muhimin Bin Faruk, had designed this on-campus event plans with some new initiatives which might add a new chapter of glory on this journey during the pandemic.

For the very first time in the history of on-campus round, Hult Prize at the University of Dhaka has recruited Hult Envoys who, as the flagbearers, will promote the event and its proceedings. Hult Prize is also arranging a two-week-long boot camp in which the participants will get training by national and international-level trainers on topics including digital marketing for SME, design thinking, customer empathy, and so forth.

The recent live sessions organised by the Hult Prize at the University of Dhaka has created a hype among the students. The appearance of different entrepreneurs and social influencers like Kishor Kumar Das (Founder of Bidyanondo), Sayem Faruk (Co-founder of Alpha Catering and Events), and many other changemakers in the live sessions has worked as a stimulator for the students to participate in this competition. This year Hult Prize at the University of Dhaka is collaborating with more than 10 clubs and has partnered with renowned organisations like YSSE, Youth Opportunities, Bohubrihi, Interactive Cares, CNI, and Prothom Alo. Their title sponsor is EMK Center.

The registration window opened on September 27. The students of the University of Dhaka will need to participate as a group consisting of 3-4 members. Due to the overwhelming response, the registration deadline had been prolonged to October 17, 2020. The showdown of the event will be on November 27, 2020. The winning teams of the on-campus round will be taking part in the Regional Round of the Hult Prize where they will be competing for 1 million US Dollars in seed money for their startup. If you believe you have what it takes, don't hesitate to participate.
