Mission 64: Uniting Bangladesh and math, one district at a time

Whoever you are, you likely have several bittersweet memories attached to mathematics. In fact, our entire nation is a wonderful eclectic motley of mathematicians. To celebrate this diversity and the love of mathematics, the Interschool Community of Math Clubs Bangladesh (ICMCB) — formed by a visionary group of high school math geeks — has launched a nationwide campaign. Aptly named #Mission64, their goal is to reach young math gurus in each and every district of Bangladesh.

ICMCB is a coalition of multiple school and independent regional Math clubs across the country and has created a platform that encourages healthy competition and collaboration between its member clubs. Its overarching goal, alongside spreading the love for mathematics, is to bring representation from all over Bangladesh. In fact, that is the very objective of its newest campaign, #Mission64. Since the campaign's inception, ICMCB has already recruited clubs from 20 districts across the nation and has reached over 24,000 students. These clubs include some of the most revered names in the scene such as Mymensingh Parallel Math School, Cumilla Math & Science Forum, Josephite Math Club, and the Higgsino Science Society.

ICMCB is eager to welcome clubs from all 64 districts and unify them through their flagship contest, the club vs. club tournament: a knockout tournament between Math clubs. The think tank at ICMCB pioneered this competition format with the hopes to bring excitement to the traditional Mathematics scene of Bangladesh.

President of ICMCB Mohammad Sami Nur Islam, says, "Our team is extremely excited with the enthusiasm students across Bangladesh have shown for the club vs. club tournament. We sincerely hope to spread the joy that Mathematics has brought us personally to more and more people. We are certainly not stopping until we have achieved a nationwide reach through #Mission64."
