Editorial
There is nothing more revolting than having to work at a place where you feel suffocated.
Yet, people still do it. They wake up every morning, look the best versions of themselves, and head out for work, only to spend eight hours a day working in 25-square foot cubicles they call their workstations.
Is that what a job is supposed to be then?
Till I began working full-time, I too had a similar perception about the work culture in general. However, as I eased myself into that culture, I realised it need not be so. The work culture has changed a lot in the past few years, and I think it is about time we move away from its traditional shackles.
One thing I do want to see from the general public is the acceptance of jobs that do not fit its traditional definitions. For instance, a freelance software engineer might have the same skills as a software engineer working a desk job at a typical software firm. Yet, people are likely to value the latter more than the former, just because they fit the narrative a lot better.
