Invention Predictions for the Future

When you really boil it down, human beings are nothing but billions of tiny micro particles when compared to the infinite universe. We're random, simple, idiotically genius and brilliantly stupid all at the same time. From the discovery of fire to the modern smartphone, great inventions have come and gone, born out of accident, intention, and a whole lot of “in-betweens”.

While what invention comes along in the future remains a mystery, a lot remains to be desired. Ours is a generation with individuals as morose as 50-something-year-olds, staring away at nothing in particular on their mobile devices, typing away messages in a chirpy digital tone with stone cold faces. We'll ponder on pressing world issues like, say, the absence of portable biodegradable toilets in the world; an ironic thought because such thoughts are often pursued in the confines of a toilet. But the purpose of this article isn't about the irony of such thoughts, but rather the portable biodegradable toilet we all yearn for when we're too old for diapers. On that note, the following inventions would aid us greatly too:

1. The Text Un-send Button: How many times have we let our emotions (or erm… desires) muddle our thoughts, and sent texts we wish we could take back? Have you ever instantly regretted texting something? Text un-sends could save thousands of friendships and relationships worldwide.

2. Food Printer: I for one am tired of coming across recipe tutorials to the most scrumptious dishes on Facebook, videos that truly hurt when you look across the room and see last night's daal, chicken curry and bhaat patiently lying in wait for you to give up on life and consume it. Imagine connecting your laptop to a printer and producing your own chicken & chorizo jambalaya, and this printer could be powered by a treadmill which you have to run on. Good food and no obesity- it's a win-win!

3. Bluetooth Stickers: Ever struggle to find your favorite t-shirt/top in the middle of an avalanche of piled up clothes? How about the TV remote that so often slips into the crevices of your sofa? Or just, what if you're visiting a carnival/parade with your friends and you get separated from the bunch? What if you could just smack a sticker on him/her/it/whatever and use your phone to find what/who you're looking for? If you're aspiring to be a parent someday, you won't have to be afraid of losing your kid while you snapchat a pretty fountain anymore

4. Teleportation Device: Teleportation is indubitably the solution to a lot of the world's problems. Just imagine a world where roads aren't necessary, and millions of acres of land are available for agricultural, residential and leisure purposes. Overpopulation wouldn't be such a problem anymore, and you could zip on down to Paris for hot chocolate with your girlfriend who lives in Canada in the afternoon and comeback home to Bangladesh by 9 p.m. to watch your favorite football team finish 4th in the league again; wouldn't that be an amazing device to have in your ARSENAL? Plus, wouldn't it be cool to be able to pull off the crazy stunts like in the video game, Portal?

In a utopian world, all this technology would be commonplace and inexpensive, but the reality is likely to be much different. But hey, with the rate at which we're making technological breakthroughs in this century, alone, the future seems bright. This is to our future Utopia!
