How to deal with resurfaced pictures

Everybody has done something in the past that they're not entirely proud of. Be it a ridiculous haircut, embracing a goth look or simply being friends with the wrong crowd, we have all made our fair share of mistakes. However, everything has its consequences and here's when the power of "photos capturing moments" kicks in for the worse. Often times there's that one friend (or more) who decides to go on a stalking spree on your social media account and excavates mortifying pictures from your past, leaving you digging up a grave for your incoming demise. Here's a guide to cope with such situations better.

DELETE YOUR OLD PHOTOS ALTOGETHER

This may seem like a "bad sport" move but sometimes it's just better to erase them to prevent repetition of such situations in the future. Moreover, these pictures are often tied up with parts of your past you'd like to forget so here's the opportunity for you to go on and clean your timeline once and for all. However, if you don't want to lose the pictures entirely, store them elsewhere.

JOIN IN WITH THEM

It's being a good sport if you join in on the jokes and laugh off your embarassing past because after all, everyone has embarrassing stories of their own. Embracing the moments is a sign of you moving on from your insecurities and I think that's the best way someone can deal with such situations. Also, by doing so you leave the impression that you're unaffected by it, thereby causing them to lose their interest in aggravating you altogether.

COUNTER-STALK THE STALKER

This may sound like a childish revenge plot however I assure you it is very effective. The thing about humans is that they're mostly okay with anything happening as long as it isn't happening to them. So give them a taste of their own medicine. Here's to hoping they don't have the upper hand and haven't already deleted their oldies. Rest assured, remember this is all a playful plot so be sure not to cross lines.

COMMUNICATE WITH THEM

Now this is only for people very close to you. If you don't like their actions just have an honest conversation with them about it. But make sure the person is someone you trust or it will backfire gravely. Be sure to never put hate comments as it will make things worse. Also, considering the fact that they never had bad intentions, it will be unreasonable for you to do otherwise.

BE INDIFFERENT

Sometimes not doing anything is equivalent to doing a lot. If it keeps reappearing on your feed or if it bothers you immensely, consider taking a break from social media for a while. This will not only clear your mind, but also give you that extra time to indulge in other things you always wanted to like watching a new movie or reading a book.

So to wrap it up, there are numerous ways for you to deal with such situations however be sure to pick your coping mechanism wisely with accordance to the situation at hand.
