Confessions of an online shopping addict

My love for not leaving my bed coupled with my crippling social anxiety has made home delivery my number one go-to for any kind of purchase. Be it food, clothing, or beauty products, you can bet your hopefully-more-active-butt-than-mine that I won't be heading out to physically buy any of it.
Laziness is obviously a huge deciding factor for my lack of physical shopping. However, an even bigger reason is that professionally taken pictures of products on the internet just make it seem like the products available online are much better than the ones found in my local stores. Sometimes, the online products really are better, when the businesses really care about their customers. But a lot of times, it's just an illusion. Good lighting and on par photography skills make a world of difference when it comes to product presentation.
Most of the time, online products are priced at a higher rate than physical stores. I can think of many reasons for this discrepancy: delivery charges add up, independent businesses end up paying more on customs to bring products from abroad, and online store owners have the freedom to price things however they want without the fear of hagglers.
Haggling is a skill I do not possess. I'm certain I will bring shame to the Bangladeshi auntie community in the future. But I can't be bothered to learn haggling so I shall hide behind my laptop and keep buying products at full price. One advantage is that I can easily compare and contrast online. If many pages are selling the same product, I will surely order the most affordable listing. If you do the same, make sure the price isn't drastically lower – that's probably a fake product.
Since haggling is off the table, sales are the next best way to save some dough. I always keep my eyes peeled for sales on products that I have been eyeing but don't have the heart to drop so much cash on. Online pages do not usually go back and delete old posts so it isn't as easy to hike up prices and then offer sales. You can always check whether they are legitimate. However, you can never be too careful. Even though I'd call myself a seasoned online shopper, I am still familiar with scams. They were just one or two incidents and I never ended up losing any money, but I've learned that being wary is important. I have friends who have been conned to no ends so it is best to stick to a few pages that you know and trust.
Shopping is generally therapeutic for a lot of people. These people almost always have specific objects that they love buying and collecting. For me, that is skincare product. For you, that could be shoes, watches, Pokémon cards, pretty much anything. Facebook's algorithm gets us right there. They know what we like and so they will feed us just the right content to suck our purses dry. Be vigilant.
If you know a Shoppers Anonymous Support Group for online shopping, please let me know. I admit I have a problem.
