Bangladesh becomes champion of World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) 2022
Sajid Asbat Khandaker and Sourodip Paul, representing BRAC A, have won the Open Finals of the Belgrade World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) 2022.
Sajid and Sourodip are students of BRAC University. They were the very first team from Bangladesh to make it to the finals of this illustrious event, reported earlier today. The tournament is referred to as the "world cup of debating".
They have also created continental history by becoming the first team from an Asian country to become champions at a WUDC event.
Prior to the finals, Sajid and Sourodip were ranked fifth in the Open Category, during the preliminary rounds of the tournament. This shattered the previous record ever held by any Bangladeshi team — a record which was in fact held by the same pair.
In the final, they faced Princeton University, National University of Singapore, and Ateneo de Manila University. It was streamed live on the Belgrade WUDC Live Streams Facebook page.
