Education in the time of a pandemic

Classes are being taken online; homework is being delivered through online platforms, refrigerators are the new blackboard and home is the new classroom.

As Covid-19 spreads faster in crowded places most educational institutions have been shut around the world, education like most other activities has moved online.

According to data by The United Nations' education agency UNESCO, this pandemic is disrupting the education of 91.3 percent students in 188 countries. And over a prolonged period, it can even threaten the right to education.

Therefore, schools, colleges, and universities need to adapt to the situation. Schools are deploying distance-learning programs with the help of the internet

Educational institutions in Bangladesh are also conducting online classes. DPS STS School in Dhaka are taking a lead in this area and have been working  to offer an effective service to their students. Various means like Google Classroom and Google Meet are being used to conduct online classes. Quizzes are also being held through these platforms.

 "We knew it wouldn't be easy, but there is only one way to learn how to offer an online service – and that is to plan and then do it. We also have to listen to feedback and we are learning fast. All our teachers and students are participating in the online classes using Google Classroom and Google Meet platforms," Madhu Wal, Vice Principal of DPS STS School Dhaka said according to a press release sent to media.

"The idea here is to assist our students to feel included in the process of education. We want to overcome this challenging situation staying afar, yet together," said Madhu Wal.
