Humayun Ahmed characters in Hogwarts houses
Humayun Ahmed is regarded as one of the most brilliant and talented writers in Bengali literature. His imminence is unparalleled, in his forty years of excellence, he has engendered many immortal characters in our literary world.
Here are some of his timeless characters sorted into Hogwarts houses. After all, why not combine two of the most powerful literary forces in the whole wide world?
Titli: Half of the beloved-sister duo from Aaj Robibar, Titli is the charm that holds the show together. Many would think that both of these sisters would get sorted into the same house, but I believe that that is not necessarily the case. The older of the two sisters is definitely a Ravenclaw. She is intelligent, studious, and often the mastermind of the pranks the sisters carry out throughout the show. She is seen mostly reading, plotting, singing, and often answering quizzical questions everyone asks around her.
Konka: The other half of the aforementioned sister-duo, she is the life of Aaj Robibar who keeps up its enjoyable atmosphere by her youthful smile and incredible zeal. While being pretty intelligent herself, the more notable strength in her is her loyalty. She realises from the very beginning that both the sisters are in love with the same boy. Despite her ardent passion for him, she lets her sister pursue him with no effort on her part. She is also shown to be courageous, rambunctious, and delightfully fond of those whom she loves. All these personality traits constitute to prove that she is definitely a Gryffindor.
Baker Bhai: My heart goes out to this man. Baker Bhai, the protagonist of Kothao Keu Nei, alone provides largely to the legacy of our beloved writer. He is a rebellious gangster, the definition of chaotic-good in Bengali literature. He was afraid to neither break the law nor work for it based on his own moral compass. Despite his roguish ways and unconventional approach of pursuing what he deemed to be right, he was at the core an honest man selflessly set to make things right. His heavy involvement in the lives and causes of those who mattered to him always got him unfairly incriminated. However, nothing ever fazed him and his sense of justice, and he was dignified till the very end of the show. He is undoubtedly a Gryffindor.
Himu: Humayun Ahmed was a man who explored almost every aspect there is to human character, and Himu was certainly one of his most successful projects. Himu is a man without any destination, ambition, or solicitation. He lives his life walking around barefooted and wishes to achieve nothing. His belief is that belief alone is the key to all that is enigmatic in this world. He deeply adheres to and follows his own ideals. His principles ameliorate his eccentric yet likeable personality. Probably for his widely-obsolete ways of living, he may seem like a Ravenclaw. However, at the very core, he is a Hufflepuff. While he himself indulges in nothing much, he seems to hold the potential of it all. He has qualities that are not exclusive to any of the houses. Thus, it makes sense to sort him into Hufflepuff as the house itself is all about inclusion.
Phooli: I shall raise awareness to acknowledge this great yet under-appreciated character. She is obstinate, temperamental, and impressionable. But, her thirst for power is unquenchable. Her curiosity to learn more of the depths of the minds around her is insatiable. She is determined to work her way up, through thick-and-thin, mindfully oblivious of the right-and-wrong. Yes, I am talking about the vibrant maid in Aaj Robibar, Phooli. Not only is she domineering, but she's also charming and ambitious. She could have won hearts through her smile and the sways of her hips and certainly risen to power, only if she were in service to a family even moderately sane. Her want of control and power most definitely make her a Slytherin and quite a quintessential one at that.
There are many other characters of Humayun Ahmed who deserved a place here. Despite having only mentioned five of them, we can easily perceive the greatness of his works and creations. He himself is to remain immortal for his contribution to Bangla literature.
