We Simulated PSG’s 21-22 Season in FIFA, with Messi!

Paris Saint-Germain's recent spending spree looks like something straight out of FIFA's Career Mode. 

Bagging the likes of Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi in one window is already remarkable, but Khelafi and Co. decided to go all in and top it off with the inclusion of the greatest of all time, Lionel Andres Messi. 

Money is not an issue and PSG president Nasser Bin Ghanim Al-Khelaifi is capable of getting whoever he wants to build that high overall squad he saw in his son's FIFA Ultimate Team. And with the inclusion of Lionel Messi, the current PSG squad has become the highest-rated eleven ever, equaling the feat of the FC Barcelona squad from the 11-12 season.

Regardless of how the team might perform on the pitch, this squad will go down in history as a true all-star eleven.

And what better way to see how PSG's new FIFA roster might work other than seeing them in the game itself? So we went ahead and put the squad through the 2021-2022 season in career mode to see how they might fare.

Ligue 1

PSG glided through the Ligue 1 like they usually do with a few draws here and there, and a 2-0 away loss at Monaco. 

Messi finished the season with the most goals (26) and assists (14) in the league. Neymar finished second in the golden boot race with 19 goals. As for the hotshot Kylian Mbappe, he faced a goal drought and ended the season with only 9 goals. 

Other star members in the squad like Mauro Icardi, Angel Di Maria, Marco Veratti could also find themselves in the goal-scoring and assisting chart by the end of the season as PSG lifted the 21/22 Ligue 1 trophy with quite a few matches in hand.

Coupe de France

PSG lifted the French cup quite easily, demolishing their opponents even with the occasional squad rotation. 

The quarter-final against St Étienne went into extra time and then penalties, but PSG came out victorious. Other than that and a 1-0 win against Nice in the semifinal, the road was pretty smooth. 

Messi and Co. thrashed Lyon 3-0 in the final and lifted the cup. Argentine number nine Mauro Icardi came out the top scorer in Coupe de France with 7 goals.

UEFA Champions League

This is where things got interesting. Despite PSG's lavish spending since the Qatari takeover, they haven't quite been able to take home the Champions League trophy. 

Well, they finally did it. 

PSG won the UEFA Champions League in our simulation. The road to victory, however, wasn't easy. They edged out a 2-1 aggregate victory against Real Madrid and a 4-2 win on aggregate against Man City in the knockout rounds. 

PSG came out victorious in the final with a 3-0 win against FC Bayern Munich.

The results generated in this small experiment should not be taken seriously, however. It's just a simulation and not a very good one at that. However, given their squad depth, PSG might as well win the treble, and the simulation results might just prove to be true.
