Payoneer postpones plan to increase bank withdrawal limit for Bangladeshi freelancers
Payoneer, the American financial services company that facilitates online money transfer facilities for the majority of Bangladeshi freelancers, has postponed its plan to increase the bank withdrawal limit in Bangladesh.
On June 14, the company announced that it will be changing the minimum withdrawal limit to Bangladeshi banks to USD 150 from the previous USD 50 minimum limit on June 30. However, after receiving feedback from freelancers in Bangladesh, the company has decided to back down from increasing the minimum withdrawal limit.
Payoneer, however, has not confirmed whether or not they will be going ahead with this change in withdrawal limit in the future. The company will notify users beforehand if they plan on making any changes to the existing withdrawal limit.
During the initial announcement, Payoneer assured users that they can still withdraw funds using bKash, where the minimum withdrawal limit is BDT 1000.
The postponement comes after freelancers across the country were somewhat outraged with this decision, and let the Payoneer authorities know of their discontentment with the change.
Payoneer has been the medium for Bangladeshi freelancers for receiving funds from clients across the world, as well as freelance marketplaces like Fiverr and UpWork.
Recently, the company announced its partnership with bKash where Bangladeshi freelancers could receive their funds in their bKash accounts instead of their regular bank accounts.
