QS Ranking: Buet, DU top subject categories in Bangladesh

In the Engineering and Technology broad category of QS World University Ranking 2023 by subject, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) is the only university to have made the rankings from Bangladesh. Buet ranked 335 in the world in the 2023 QS Engineering and Technology broad category with a score of 64.4.

In the Social Sciences & Management broad category, Dhaka University (DU) is the only university to have made the rankings from Bangladesh. DU ranked in the 451-500 bracket in the world in the 2023 QS Social Sciences & Management broad category.

The 2023 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by subject cover a total of 54 disciplines. These subjects have been grouped into five broad subject areas – Arts & Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management.

As for the other three broad categories, no university from Bangladesh ranked. However, a few other universities, including Buet and DU did make the rankings in the subject-wise subcategories.

In Computer Science and Information Systems, Buet ranked in the 401-450 bracket, DU in the 551-600 bracket, and North South University (NSU) in the 651-680 bracket.

In Electrical and Electronics, Buet ranked in the 301-350 bracket.

In Petroleum Engineering, Buet ranked in the 51-100 and CUET ranked in the 101-150 bracket. 

In Mechanical Engineering, Buet ranked in the 351-400 bracket. 

In Agriculture and Forestry, Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU) ranked in the 301-350 bracket. 

In Medicine, BRAC University ranked in the 601-650 bracket while DU ranked in the 601-650 bracket. 

In Accounting and Finance, DU ranked in the 301-330 bracket. 

In Business and Management Studies, DU ranked in the 351-400 bracket, and NSU ranked in the 401-450 bracket. 

Lastly, in Economics and Econometrics, DU ranked in the 401-450 bracket.
