Young achievers
It's been the goal of Star Showbiz from its very inception to uphold all that's wonderful in the showbiz world of Bangladesh and bring it to our readers. To achieve this goal, we have undergone changes to better cater to our audience and this change will continue as long as we exist. In the spirit of this change, and the upcoming Boishak, we are presenting twelve young individuals from all sectors of the media who have already managed to carve out a space for themselves and have the potential to go further on to possibly become household names in their respective sectors.
SRIYA SHARBOJOYA: The person behind Radio Shadhin, which is currently celebrating its two year anniversary, which is amazing considering how popular FM Radio Shadhin is in the airwaves. Apart from this, she is also an actress in both television and theater, following in the footsteps of her parents Aly and Sara Zaker.
NADIA: Winning a beauty pageant is never easy what with other talented contestants eating away at one's heels but Nadia has done just that. Winner of last year's Lux Channel i Superstar, Nadia is now front and center in the eyes of all those working in the media. She is talented and has the potential to go very far.
KAUSHIK HOSSAIN TAPOSH: Gaanbangla, the brainchild of the talented musician and music director Taposh, is the 1st true TV Channel dedicated entirely to music. It has already caught the attention of artists around the country and, nowadays, it's getting swamped with sponsors and ads, which means the formula works. This also shows that TV channels can no longer be a jack of all trades affair. It must start getting focused and Gaanbangla is proof that it works. Another achievement for Taposh is that he has just won a film national award for his music direction.
PEYA: She is a very established model, who's also branching into the film industry. She is already part of a number of film projects, but what really makes her worthy of this list is the fact that she has worked in a couple of notable projects in India under a very prestigious agency. This not only shows her current progress, but also shows great potential for a bright future.
ARIQ ANAM KHAN: The son of famous actors Tareq and Nima Anam, is following in the footsteps of his parents as an actor on stage and TV. His pedigree and his physical attributes makes him a much needed talent in the media as the industry seems to be currently suffering from lack of presentable male actors. However, he might also go towards direction as he plans to go to America to study filmmaking. We still believe that if he keeps acting as his main focus, he will go far and establish himself as a very successful actor.
JOYITA: A musician, born to Mita Haque and Khaled Khan, who specializes in bringing the essence of Rabindra sangeet to the new generation. Many may object to her style, but there is no denying that she has her own share of supporters who appreciate her unique take on Rabindra sangeet. The key to her success is her education, training, and her voice. Her recent work with the national anthem has been well received by the audience and if this is anything to go by, she is going to go far. She is also releasing an album soon from Kolkata and The Bengal Foundation.
ADIT: Coming from a family with experience in the film industry, Adit has certain multi talented advantages in the industry. He is well educated and he is quite an established music director, but he is also a film producer and the projects that he worked on has already been box office hits, which is quite a feat considering the current slump in the industry.
ESHA YOUSUF: Calling herself a theatre activist, she has strong ties to the media industry through her parents Shimul and Nasruddin Yousuf. She has also studied abroad to be an executive producer, a concept unheard of in Bangladeshi film industry. Facing many hurdles like establishing the role of an executive producer and being a young woman, she worked on a number of projects with success and has managed to carve out a good space for herself in this field.
ABID HOSSAIN: Abid is an up and coming documentary director. The quality of his work shows that he aims at a much broader audience than just his homeland. Anyone watching his works will feel that he has foreign film festivals in mind. With this kind of eye for detail and talent, Abid has a bright future ahead.
AZIM UDDULA: One of the most recognizable male models of Bangladesh, Azim has worked with some of the top brands of Bangladesh, appearing in TV, print ads and billboards all over the country. His true ambition is to be an international model working for famous brands from Italy, Rome, etc. The truth however is that unless he moves abroad completely, it's very hard to secure any contracts from international countries. We hope that he is able to fulfill his dream as he has what it takes to be a standout model.
RACHEL PRIYANKA PERRIS: A classical dancer with extreme talent and has won several awards in the field, Rachel is currently studying for a higher degree in Gourio Nrittyo in Kolkata, India. She plans to be a dancer, but not just strictly limited to classical. She plans to keep her roots intact, but experiment with dance forms. She even wants to choreograph film dance moves. We hope that she can keep this momentum going because she will go quite far.
WAHID ANAM: It's been a long a time since we have seen a director with proper skills and talents. Wahid hasn't been in the scene for that long, but despite this, he has managed to win awards such as Meril Prothom Alo's critic's award. And it's even more astounding when you consider the fact that he has done a handful of projects. Now though, he is leaving TV drama directing to concentrate more on filmmaking as he studied that in America, alongside directing TVC's.
