Unknown Facts About Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible V
Tom Cruise was 1,500m above ground
If you thought seeing Tom Cruise scale the tallest building in the world was amazing, you would be surprised at what the 5th movie has to bring. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is first seen jumping onto the wing of a plane and grabbing onto the side of the plane as it took flight. This is not CGI. This is Tom Cruise actually holding onto the plane while it was 1,500 metres above ground.
Tom Cruise was underwater for 6 minutes
Cruise is well-known for his determination to keep the movie as real as possible, even when it comes to the stunts. In the scene where Hunt was tasked to dive underwater to retrieve the computer chip, it is said that Cruise himself remained underwater for 6 consecutive minutes for a take. If this isn't passion, we don't know what is.
Tom Cruise did all the driving stunts himself
Yeah, like being suspended mid-air and staying underwater for 6 minutes isn't amazing enough – Cruise even went on to do all the driving stunts in the movie by himself. All that high-speed motorcycle chase that happened in the mountains of Morocco was all done by him. Cruise's stunt coordinator said that if he wasn't an actor, he would do well being a stuntman too.
Car brand matters
Product placements are a commonplace in big movies. That's because the effects, props and what not aren't free. Somebody has to be the sponsor. For this movie, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz were the sponsors. Notice how the good guys (aka the dudes from IMF) only drove BMWs while the bad eggs only drove Audis and Mercedes?
The villain isn't killed off
Unlike all the previous instalments where the masterminds are killed off, Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) wasn't. Instead, he was trapped in a bullet-proof glass container and shipped off to the authorities who likely sentenced him to life imprisonment in a high security prison. So expect a return of the Syndicate.
