Scarlett Johansson withdraws from 'Rub and Tug' after backlash
Actress Scarlett Johansson has officially announced that she is withdrawing from the movie Rub and Tug where she was set to play a transgendered character. After facing a lot of backlash for accepting the role, Johansson initially responded by releasing a statement which stated, "Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman's reps for comment." This statement resulted in more backlash towards the actress. But on June 13 Johansson decided to back out of the project, which caused a very positive reaction on the internet. The project was a biopic about Pittsburgh massage parlor owner and crime kingpin Dante "Tex" Gill. The real-life Gill was born Lois Jean Gill but identified as a man. It is said to be directed by Rupert Sanders.
