Tahsin Ahmed

Tahsin Ahmed has constantly proved throughout his brief career that he is here to stay, by churning out memorable tunes and hit singles at will. He has scored the music of many hit albums, telefilms and movies in the short time he has earned the spotlight. This self-taught music director talks to Star Showbiz about his amazing success and how he developed into one of the most promising figures in the industry.

How did you get into music?

One of the prime inspirations was my father. He was very much into music; he sang and played the piano at family programs. My elder brother also used to be a musician and he used to take me to band shows all the time. I would say that they inspired me a lot to start doing music by myself. We didn't have YouTube back when I started to tinker with compositions and started trying to record them myself.

Tell us about your first album. What would you say was your turning point?

As I got better at recording music, mainly through trial and error, it ultimately culminated in my first album called "Bhalobashar Rong". This album was initiated when I entered a contest where Fuad Bhai (Fuad Almuqtadir) and Upol bhai selected me as the winner. As for the turning point, that would definitely be in 2012 when I got featured in the album "Radio Foorti Young Stars". My song "Sriticharon" did outstandingly well. That was the time I started doing radio and television shows. I would like to thank Naved Parvez for the movie playbacks, that helped my career a lot.

Tell us about your recent projects.

I've worked with Mithila for the song "Thikana", which was written and directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan. At the moment, I'm working on some of my client's solo albums, singles and more telefilm backgrounds and songs.

Whom did you enjoy working with the most as an artist?

That would have to be Fuad Almuqtadir and Sajid Sarker. They are absolute bosses at what they do. Besides them, I loved working with Porshi because she is utterly professional. Mithila was one of the most humble and talented people I have come across. There are so many wonderful people I meet that it's really not possible to name a particular favorite!

Do you see yourself as more of a music director than a singer?

Definitely. I am comfortable with working behind the scenes making good music rather than actually embracing the spotlight. I like composing way more than I like singing.

How would you like to see yourself in the future?

I would love to be known as a successful music director, as I want my compositions to reflect how hard I have worked. I really respect what Fuad and Habib bhai have done in the past, and I want to walk on their path from here onwards.
