PM opens 100 roads in 50 districts

A month and a half into the inauguration of 100 bridges in a single day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today opened to traffic a record number of 100 highways in 50 districts.

The premier virtually inaugurated the 100 highways from her office in Dhaka to ensure a safe and uninterrupted road communication as well as help reduce of road accidents and traveling time.

Covid vaccine

Even though, Covid-19 positivity rate is below 1%, the impacts of Covid are far from over. But to ensure the virus takes less of a toll on Bangladesh, the government has started administering the fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccines to those 60 and above. Under the campaign, people aged above 60, who already received their third Covid jabs, will be vaccinated. So, if you or your loved ones meets this criteria, be sure to head to your designated vaccine centre to get the booster shot.

Big changes in next year's curriculum

Education Minister Dipu Moni today said a new curriculum will be introduced for primary, secondary and higher secondary level students from next year. While formulating the new curriculum, the concerned authorities have kept in mind the labour market at home and abroad. This means, students can expect a big transformation in next year's curriculum.

Farmers getting incentivised

The government is extending Tk 170 crore as incentive to boost cultivation and production of boro paddy. Under the incentive, around 27 lakh farmers across the country will be getting free seeds and fertilisers. Meanwhile, farmers are breathing a sigh of relief after this year's bumper Aman yield. 

Momen says no need to worry about US sanctions

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said there is "no reason to worry" about new US sanctions, and termed Bangladesh, US ties "very good". Momen also said the US imposes sanctions when they want to put pressure, and there are examples of withdrawal of said sanctions. Citing multifaceted engagements between the two countries, the foreign minister said the US comes up with suggestions at times as there is cordial relationship between the two countries.
