Cyclone Sitrang: 80 lakh subscribers still out of power

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today (October 25, 2022) said around 80 lakh subscribers are still out of power across the country since cyclone Sitrang damaged infrastructures.

"We have around 4.80 crore electricity users across the country, of which, 80 lakh customers are out of connection," the state minister said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat today.

Around 1,500-2,000 electric poles were damaged, he said adding that their first priority is to restore power in the coastal areas -- specially to the hospitals and other structures having emergency.
