There will be two types of passes – single-use and multiple-use -- for passengers to use the country's first metro rail.

The cards will be available from Thursday, after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurates the Agargaon-Uttara Diabari section tomorrow.

The single-use cards can be bought from vending machines or booths at the station. The passenger will have to leave the card after completing the journey.

In case a passenger travels more than the journey they paid for, they will have to pay the additional amount at a designated booth before leaving the station where their journey ends.

In case of multiple-use cards, passengers have to register for those for Tk 200, and the cards can be used for 10 years.

For registration, passengers have to give their name, parents' names, NID or Passport or birth registration card number.

Tk 200 will be used as deposit money, and people have to load additional money as needed for travelling with these cards. The card can be refilled up to Tk 10,000.

The commuter will get back the deposited money (Tk 200) upon returning the card.

For now, people will have to buy the cards with cash at the stations. The authorities are working with different companies to start mobile financial services so that passengers can pay through mobile transection.

The fare from Uttara to Agargaon is Tk 60.
