Members of third gender community cast their votes

Members of the third gender community have exercised their franchise during the Narayanganj City Corporation election today.

There are four voters from the community out of 517,361 total voters in the NCC election. Three members of the local third gender community cast their votes this morning, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.

Sandhya and Rubina voted at Mijmiji Paindi Rekmat Ali High School under ward number 1 of Siddhirganj around 9am while Payel cast her vote at West Deobhog Shishubagh School centre around 10am.

"I became a voter in 2017. I have voted in previous election too. I voted for the candidate as per my choice. It's easy to vote using EVM. I didn't face any problem," Payel told our correspondent.

Sandhya and Rubina told reporters that they voted using the EVM for the first time.

"If we can stand by people and gain good reputation, we can consider running as councillor candidates in future," said Sandhya.
