The Southpaw from Chittagong became the first batsman from Bangladesh to cross the 1000-run milestone in T20Is during the qualifying match of ICC WT20 2016 against Oman at Dharamsala today.

Tamim was 11 runs short of the mark with 989 after his cameo of 47 during the washed out match against Ireland on March 11, 2016. He is also the leading run-getter for Bangladesh in one-day internationals and Test match cricket as well.

In ODIs, Tamim is at the zenith with 4713 runs from 153 matches. His highest score in one-day matches came on August 16, 2009 at Bulawayo when Tamim thrashed the Zimbabwean bowlers all around the park for 154 runs in only 138 deliveries.

In Tests, Tamim is at numero uno with 3118 runs from 42 matches. His personal best of 206 came at home against Pakistan during April 2015.

Tamim is currently going through a rich vein of form and his less-hurried, matured approach combined with selective aggression in T20 cricket has paid rich dividends during the Pakistan Super League and now through the qualifying round of ICC WT20 2016 in India.

“You can say that Tamim is a lot calmer than excited now. Yes, sometimes you need to force things. But if you look around you, you will find batsmen playing cricketing shots are more successful in T20 cricket. You see Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma are very successful in all formats including T20s because they play according to the merit of the ball.” Tamim explained when he spoke to The Daily Star.
