Afghans end WT20 campaign with historic win

Afghanistan make history on their way to end their ICC World Twenty20 2016 campaign beating West Indies by 6 runs in the Super Ten match today at Nagpur, India.

West Indies won the toss and opted to field first, and restricted Afghans to a small total of 123 for seven wickets in 20 overs.

Najibullah Zadran scored the highest for his team with an unbeaten 48 off 40 balls. West Indies bowler Samuel Badree took three wickets conceding only 14 runs in four overs.

In the chase of 124 runs, West Indies kept losing wickets at regular interval and were put under pressure with disciplined bowling by the Afghan bowlers. Amir Hamza was particularly impressive with the ball as he picked up one wicket in his four overs conceding only nine runs.

In the last over of the match, West Indies needed 10 runs to win and managed to score only four runs, losing the wicket of Carlos Brathwaite, paving the way for a historic victory for Afghanistan.
