Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain suffered an injury yesterday and it has been confirmed that he has torn his ligament as was suspected earlier.

The cricketer reportedly tore his right knee ligament while playing football after attending a friend's wedding in Sirajganj. The cricketer had earlier suggested that he injured himself during a running session.

The torn-ligament news was confirmed after MRI scan report arrived today. Nasir is likely to undergo surgery in either Australia or Thailand. He is expected to be out for atleast six months.

"He has torn his ligament. Normally for such an injury, surgery is necessary. Nasir will undergo surgery for the torn ligament. The board will decide whether Nasir will go to Thailand or Australia for surgery," Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physio Dr Debashish Chowdhury told The Daily Star.
