Bangladesh suffer loss in last fixture before final
Bangladesh men's cricket team succumbed to their first defeat in the 13th South Asian Games, suffering a nine-wicket loss against Sri Lanka in the final group fixture at Kirtipur today.
Bangladesh rested key players including the likes of skipper Soumya Sarkar and batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto with the final slated for tomorrow. Asked to bat, Bangladesh put on 150 for six on the board with Mahidul Islam hitting a 38-ball 44 while Yasir Ali struck 51 off 45.
In reply, Sri Lanka U-23, who will be Bangladesh's opponent in the final tomorrow, coasted to victory, losing just one wicket as opener Pathun Nissanka struck 67 off 52 deliveries while Number 3 batsman Lasith Croopsulle also struck an aggressive 73 off 41 deliveries.
