BCB forms five-member Election Commission

The executive committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today formed a five-member Election Commission with the secretary of the Youth and Sports as its chief.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan disclosed this at a crowded press briefing after an emergency EC meeting at the board's headquarters in Mirpur today.

The five-member committee that will also include a representative from the Attorney General's office and the BCB CEO will make all the necessary arrangements for holding the BCB polls. The four-year tenure of the current executive committee expires on October 17.

While talking to the reporters, Hasan said that the emergency meeting was the last of his 27-member committee, elected in 2013. But the Hasan-led committee is currently facing the legality of its functioning following a writ petition. The matter is currently pending on a High Court Judgment.
