Lewis storm takes apart Chittagong Vikings

Evin Lewis struck a fantastic 31-ball 75 that saw Dhaka overhaul Chittagong’s score of 187 with seven wickets to spare at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong..

Dhaka started their chase, losing Shahid Afridi in the first over as a mistimed drive was taken at mid-off by Ronchi, who leaped in the air to complete a brilliant catch.

Evin Lewis and Joe Denly were in fine touch and Lewis went after Raza in the sixth over, hitting the Zimbabwean for a four and a six in the sixth over.

Lewis got into full-throttle in the ninth over as he took out Sunzamul Islam, hitting the bowler for three sixes on the trot to bring up his fifty. Sunzamul conceded 26 as Lewis proceeded to hit another six off the last ball of the over. Dhaka were scoring at well over 10 runs-per-over as they reached 104 for the loss of a wicket in just 10 overs.

Lewis finally fell to Rayad Emrit in the 12th over before Joe Denly was also removed after a 39-ball 44.

Lewis’s knock of 75 contained nine sixes and three fours. There was no respite for the Chittagong bowlers however as Cameron Delport came in and kept hitting the big ones. Delport, along with Shakib Al Hasan carried the Dynamites to victory as Chittagong were unable to take any more wickets. Delport struck a 24-ball 43 with 2 fours and two sixes.

Earlier, a superb knock by batsman Anamul Haque helped struggling Chittagong Vikings post 187 on the board against Dhaka Dynamites

Skipper Luke Ronchi took the game to the Dhaka bowlers – ably supported by Anamul Haque, early on in the innings as he raced to a 27-ball fifty as Chittagong were scoring at close to 10 runs-per over after losing opener Soumya Sarkar in the third over.

Ronchi hit Shakib Al Hasan for 23 runs in the fifth over with three sixes and a four as Chittagong reached 50 in just five overs.

Ronchi and Anamul put on a 107 run second-wicket partnership in just 65 balls before Ronchi was removed by Dhaka skipper Shakib Al Hasan in the 14th over. Ronchi scored a 40-ball 59 with four fours and four sixes.

Anamul reached his 50 in just 31 balls, stepping out to Shahid Afridi and belting him over long-on for six.

Anamul fell in the 18th over as he shuffled across to his off-stump and whipped Abu Hider towards deep square leg where Cameron Delport took an excellent catch. Anamul scored  47-ball 73, an innings that contained three fours and six sixes.

Sikandar Raza, Chittagong’s hero in their match against Sylhet Sixers played a handy knock of 11-ball 26 as Chittagong posted 187 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets.

Sunil Narine was the pick of the Dhaka bowlers, conceeding 11 runs in his four overs and grabbing the wicket of Soumya Sarkar.
