Wickets tumble around Miraz as Tigers stumble to 110 all out

Mehedi Hasan had been the lone ranger in the Bangladesh innings so far on Day 2 o f the second Test match. The right-handed batsman, who came in as as a nightwatcheman, applied his cricketing sense to put a value on his wicket –- something that more established batsmen failed to show, on a pitch which has not made batting look easy, and wickets tumbled around nightwatchman Miraz in te morning session.

It had been another sad tale for Bangladesh as they eventually fell for 110 all-out. Sri Lankans were sharp, they were agile – on the prowl and they finished off the Tigers in a hurry as shot selection from the Tigers batsmen helped their cause.

Liton was the first to fall early in the morning, dragging on a Suranga Lakmal delivery onto his stumps from way outside the off-stump.

Captain Mahmudullah Riyad had looked to take the pressure off with a stable partnership alongside Mehedi. However he was bowled by a beautifully flighted delivery from Akila Dhananjaya in the 43rd over and three deliveries later, Sabbir Rahman fell as well, miscuing a drive. Tigers then lost the last three wickets for just three runs as Miraz remained unbeaten on 38. Tigers only added 54 runs to their overnight score as Sri Lanka took a 112-run lead at the end of the Bangladesh innings.

Sri Lanka reached Lunch on Day 2 at nine for no loss.
