Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan lead his side Sunrisers Hyderabad to a five-wicket win over his former team Kolkata Knight Riders in what was Hyderabad's maiden away match of this edition of the IPL.

The all-rounder inspired with both the bat and the ball as Hyderabad, despite making hard work of their chase of 139, managed to clinch it thanks to Shakib and Captain Kane Williams.

Shakib gave away just 21 runs in his four overs while bagging the important wicket of Chris Lynn who had been looking to take the bowlers to cleaners. The Bangladesh all-rounder had a dot-ball percentage of 44 and it restricted the Riders big hitters from going for big ones. While Rashid Khan went for 31, the efforts of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake and Shakib restricted Knight Riders to 138 for eight.

Hyderabad were jittery in chase, losing three wickets for 55 runs inside nine overs before Shakib and Williamson starred in a 59-run fourth-wicket partnership to get them close to the target.

Shakib fell after a 21-ball 27 with two fours and six, bowled off the bowling of Piyush Chawla with the Hyderabad score on 114. The all-rounder was frustrated by the manner he got out but his team had come close to victory thanks to Shakib hitting Andre Russell for 14 in three deliveries with two fours and six.

Williamson and Shakib accelerated their innings at the right moments and some late blows from Yusuf Pathan allowed Hyderabad to reach their target with an over to spare. Having won all three of their matches so far, Hyderabad are sitting pretty at the top of the IPL table with six points.
