Liton ton in vain
Bangladesh's smashing batsman Liton Das's third ton in this season's Dhaka Premier League (DPL) went in vain as Rupganj chased down the target of 258 against Prime Doleshwar with five wickets to spare in the Super League phase match at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Liton, who had earlier struck tons against Kalabagan and Mohammedan opened the innings today and struck a 126-ball 107 with nine fours and two sixes. He built a 113-run second-wicket partnership with Fazle Mahmud before falling to Naeem Islam in the 42nd over.
His ton went in vain as Mohammad Naim played a brilliant knock of 88, with Abdul Majid and Mushfiqur Rahim playing hands knocks of 58 and 41 respectively to see off the chase.
Sheikh Jamal defeat Abahani
Meanwhile batsman Unmukt Chand struck his second ton in as many days to help Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi reach 256 for the loss of eight wickets before they bowled Abahani Limited for 230 to win by 26 runs at Fatullah.
Unmukt, the Delhi right-hander, followed up his 127 against Rupganj with a 138-ball 101 with eight fours and three sixes in his innings.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was the pick of the Abahani bowlers with three wickets for 46 runs. Abahani fell for 230 in 47.2 overs as youngster Abu Jayed Rahi bagged three wickets.
Gazi win against Khelaghar
Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza struck a 84-ball 90 while opener Imrul Kayes contributed with a 56-ball 63 against Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity to help Gazi Group to 304 for six. In reply, Khelaghar were bowled out for 270 despite a 108-run opening stand between Robiul Islam and Mahidul Islam. Abu Hider bagged three wickets for 43 runs in nine overs.
