Ashraful ton in vain
Mohammad Ashraful notched his third ton of this season's Dhaka Premier league as Kalabagan Krira Chakra posted 260 but Taijul Islam and Qazi Anik's late blows hand Mohammedan a two-wicket victory at Savar.
Ashraful previously hit tons against Prime Doleshwar and Agrani Bank this season.
Today, coming at one-down, Ashraful hit a 124-ball 127 with 13 fours and three sixes as Kalabagan were all-out for 260. He came to bat in just the fourth over of the innings and starred in an 85-run second-wicket partnership with opener Waliul Karim. His presence held the Kalabagan innings together and he was then involved in a third-wicket 82-run partnership with Mahmudul Hasan as Kalabagan innings progressed. However, Mohammedan's Qazi Onik was the star of the show with a six-wicket haul. His figures of 6 for 49 allowed Mohammedan to bowl out Kalabagan for just 260 as Kalabagan lost their last six wickets for just 19 runs.
In reply, Mohammedan saw Enamul Haque and Jony Talukdar star in a 98-run partnership for the second wicket as both struck half-centuries, however Mohammedan lost a few quick wickets in the middle overs but Taijul Islam, who struck a 32-ball 34 and Qazi Onik, who played a cameo 6-ball 15, took Mohammedan to victory.
