Mominul fastest to 2000 Test runs for Bangladesh
Mominul Haque becomes the fastest to 2000 Test runs for Bangladesh, beating Tamil Iqbal's record.
While Tamim required 53 innings to get to 2000 Test runs mark, the diminutive left hander broke Tamim's record by reaching the mark in 47 innings.
Mominul's aggression paid off as Tigers posted 374 runs on the board at stumps for the loss of four wickets.
The left-hander began the day on 1,840 Test runs, needing 160 runs to reach the 2000 mark. In the fifth ball of the 81st over, Mominul stepped out to Rangana Herath and hit him gloriously over long-off for six to bring up the record. The classy left-hander was unbeaten on 175 at stumps, six runs shy off his own highest score of 181, which he struck against New Zealand back in 2013.
