Gazi win by D/L despite Fizz’s spirited spell
Bangladesh's star pacer Mustafizur Rahman bagged three wickets during a fiery spell to cause panic among Gazi Group Cricketers but following Shamusur Rahman's unbeaten fifty, rain interrupted proceedings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium as Gazi Group picked up their fifth win, defeating Fizz's Shinepukur Cricket Club by 21 runs per D/L method.
Right-arm spinner Sanjit Saha shone early during the first innings, picking up four wickets for just 25 runs as Shinepukur were restricted to 177/9 in 50 overs. Only notable contributions came from Shadman Islam (40 off 69), Sohrawordi Shuvo (30 off 42) and Delwar Hossain's unbeaten 40 off 52 deliveries.
Following the exchange, Fizz picked up Waliul Karim and Imrul Kayes in the very first over. Waliul was trapped in front of the wickets by a yorker while Kayes was caught at mid-off by Afif Hossain. Fizz then bagged Mahedi Hasan's wicket with a cutter as the right nicked one straight through to the wicket-keeper. Rony Talukar fell to a run out with Gazi in a bit of bother but Shamsur's innings of 53 from 65 deliveries elevated the run-rate and after the rain Gazi were in a superior position under D/L method as they picked up the win.
