Lewis limps but strikes ton on return from injury
Evin Lewis, who has been been out with a hamstring injury , returned to the Comilla Victorians playing eleven today after two weeks, to strike a magnificent ton -- the fourth of the Bangladesh Premier League this season -- against the Khulna Titans.
The hard-hitting batsman missed a few matches and upon his return, he appeared to injure himself again as he tried to complete a quick single. He did not look comfortable but powered his way to a 49-ball 109 laced with five fours and 10 sixes as Comilla posted the second-highest ever BPL total, only behind Rangpur Riders' 239 which they posted against Chittagong Vikings this season.
Comilla started brightly with Lewis and Tamim Iqbal. Following a breezy opening stand, Tamim (25) and Anamul Haque (0) fell off back-to-back deliveries. Lewis seemed determined to make up for lost time and kept the pressure on the bowlers as he and Imrul Kayes (39 off 21) combined in a 98-run third-wicket partnership in just seven overs.
It rained sixes as the last eight overs of the Comilla innings produced 136 runs. Lewis limped but remained unbeaten at the end as Comilla post a massive 236 runs on the board.
