Mash’s ‘fear’ even after dominant win
Rangpur Riders were on fire yesterday with Alex Hales and Rilee Rossouw both hitting tons in a dominant win which took them to third in the table. Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza however stated that there was cause for concern even after a win where they set records.
When the top-order clicks for Rangpur, they are difficult to deal with. But therein lies one of ashrafe's concerns. The depth is not really there behind the top-order that contains T20 greats like Chris Gayle, De Villiers and the two centurions from yesterday.
"If you look at our top-order, a lot of things depends on them but the thing is that it will not click all the time," Mashrafe reiterated. "There are gaps in our team combinations," he told to reporters at post-match press conference.
Mohammad Mithun has fired at times but except Rilee Rossouw, who averages an astonishing 114.75 in this tournament so far, none of the other batsmen have shown consistency, especially the local players.
"If you look at the other teams, they have a good mix of local and foreign players. We don't have that as much," Mash added.
"I don't think there will be another innings like this in this tournament. They way they bat is great to watch but at the same time there is reason for fear because of the way they play, taking risks. So there is dread," Mash concluded.
