Mithun cites Tushar, Razzak as inspiration

Khulna duo Tushar Imran and Abdur Razzak are the stalwarts of Bangladesh's first-class arena. The duo has shown great drive to cement their names in Bangladesh's domestic cricket and Mohammad Mithun, who was included in the Test squad for the series against Zimbabwe said that Tushar and Razzak's drive and urge to play well inspires him all the time.

"What is common about those two is that they attained great success in the domestic circuit. One of them is the highest wicket-taker while the other one is the highest run-getter in first class cricket. They have incredible urge to play well," Mithun said.

Mithun has watched those two closely in the domestic circuit -- having played for Khulna in the National Cricket League – and he said that there was much to learn from how the two veterans applied themselves to perform well.

"When Tushar bhai comes out to bat, he adjusts no matter how difficult the situation is as he gets used to the surface. With Razzak bhai, he tries to play well even when he receives no help from other bowlers. I try my level best, my 100 percent to do well but it is not always in my hand to perform well. I may get out from a good delivery but the way they try is very inspiring for me. We have seen how much one has to try to play well and be successful," he said.

Tushar Imran has been in fantastic touch, scoring ton after ton and has recently crossed 11,000 runs in first-class cricket. Abdur Razzak so far has 542 wickets to his name and had earned a call-up to the national team after four years during the Tigers' Test series against Sri Lanka. Mithun believes that when one plays alongside such players, they can learn a lot about the longer format and that experience can come good.

"When you play with better players, there is a lot that you can learn. So in that sense I am lucky that I could play for Khulna for such a long period of time. So that will obviously help in Tests," he concluded.
