Mithun to miss third ODI, Mushy expected to be fit
Mohammad Mithun, who had suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI at Christchurch will miss the third ODI in Dunedin. Mushfiqur Rahim also saw his old injuries flare up but is expected to make the playing eleven tomorrow against hosts New Zealand.
Mithun has been Bangladesh's most successful batsman in this series, hitting two back-to-back fifties in the two ODIs. He sustained an injury while completing a quick run and team manager Khaled Masud informed the media today that it will take 10-12 days for him to recuperate. His injury is another blow to the Tigers since the right-hander showed the most consistency in this series, pulling the team towards recovery following slumps in both ODIs.
"Mithun's recovery will take 10-12 days. He will miss the last ODI but hopefully he will be fit before the first Test," he informed. The Test series begins on February 28 and Mithun might miss out on the first Test as well.
Mushfiqur had seen a rib pain resurface while he also sustained a wrist injury during the sole practice match at New Zealand.
"Mushfiqur's condition is very well. We did not find anything after the scans today. He did not practice today but a decision will be made during warm-up tomorrow as we try to see how fit he is. Hope is that he will play tomorrow," Khaled added on Mushfiqur.
The wicket-keeper was yesterday seen practicing knock downs during a light batting session.
