Rain mars Day 1 for Bangladesh A

Day 1 of the four-day match between Bangladesh A and Sri Lanka A has been called off due to heavy showers at the MCG in Katunayake today.

The management had selected a strong lineup for the tour of Sri Lanka with players like Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Mehdi Hasan Miraz, pacer Abu Jayed, Mohammad Mithun, Shadman Islam, Jahurul Islam and Anamul Haque making up the squad.

The opportunity is there for players such as Soumya Sarkar and Anamul Haque to regain some confidence and return amongst the runs while the management will be hoping that play goes on without any hindrance for the next three days.

They will play two four-day matches and three one-dayers against the Sri Lanka A side during the tour.

The second four-dayer is scheduled for September 30 in Galle while three one-dayers will be held on October 7, 9 and 12 respectively.
