Shakib’s advice for struggling Tamim
Tamim Iqbal has been arguably the most dependable Bangladesh batsmen in the last few years, amassing over 2000 runs and batting at an average of 55.40 prior to the World Cup. His form dipped sharply since the World Cup and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had a word of advice for his struggling teammate.
24, 19, 48,62,36,22,8,0,19,2 – These are Tamim's scores in his last 10 innings. His current average has dipped too after a dismal World Cup. Shakib, who knows all about being consistent said that Tamim needed to replenish his focus.
"See, a player can go through these [bad] phases. What I feel is that it's most important for him to rest, recover and come back strongly. I am sure he will do that," the all-rounder said today during a programme to raise awareness about the alarming rise of dengue.
Tamim himself had said during the World Cup that he 'lost to himself.' Given current form, he might find Shakib's advice useful.
