Tigers seek perfect end

Ireland Tri-Nation Series 2019

Both Bangladesh and West Indies will be looking to finish 2018 on a positive note when they lock horns for their last international fixture of the year in the third and series-deciding T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, beginning at 5:00pm, today.

The hosts are oozing with confidence following their comprehensive 36-run victory on Thursday which levelled the series. More importantly it was the right kind of approach from the Tigers after a thumping eight-wicket defeat in the first T20I in Sylhet.

The Tigers came back strongly as a unit and the collective approach, especially with the bat, helped them post their second highest T20I total of 211 for five on Thursday.

Opener Liton Das set the tone with a blistering 34-ball 60 while skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad added 71 runs in the last five overs during a record 91-run fifth-wicket stand to post a commanding total.

Shakib remained unbeaten on 42 off 26 balls while Mahmudullah was not out on 43 off 21 deliveries, giving the bowlers enough runs on the board to defend.

And then it was a Shakib-show with the ball as the all-rounder dismantled the West Indian batting order with a maiden five-wicket haul in T20s, eventually ending with figures of five for 21 as the Caribbean were bundled out for 175.

The Tigers' team management is expected to not tinker with the winning combination as the hosts will look to seal the T20I series following wins in the Test and ODI series for a perfect finish to the year.

The visitors, on the other hand, will be desperate to take something out of their dismal tour, and Carlos Brathwaite and Co. will certainly have a different plan to that end.
