'Mustafizur really bowled well in that over'
When India needed 35 runs from 18 balls in the final of the Nidahas Trophy against Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman came in to bowl an absolute gem of an over where he conceded one run and took one wicket and all-rounder Vijay Shankar who was receiving end of five deliveries in that over admits that Mustafizur bowled an amazing over.
Shankar kept shuffling across to towards the off side, showing his leg-stump but Fizz's cutters followed him and the batsman was beaten on four occasions on the trot before a leg-bye got him off stump.
Shankar revealed that he his not one to play dot balls.
"If you take a look at my batting in the Syed Mushtaq Ali or Vijay Hazare Trophy, I don't play so many dot balls. I rotate the strike but Mustafizur (Rahman) really bowled well during that over," Shankar was quoted as saying by PTI.
The batsman eventually fell after a 17-ball 19 in the penultimate ball of the innings when India needed five off two deliveries.
"When everyone was rejoicing after the final, I was feeling very disheartened at how things panned out. It was an opportunity given to me to become a hero. I should have finished the match.
"DK [Dinesh Karthik] just told me one thing -- hold your shape and hit a boundary. That ball from Soumya, I was trying to just put bat on ball," he said.
The all-rounder conceded 48 runs in his four overs in the final and he said that he was disheartened and trying to move away from an off-day.
"It was an off-day for me but I am finding it difficult to forget. I know I need to move on. I had a good tournament until that final day," Shankar said.
