10-wicket stunner from Shakib

Shakib Al Hasan Hasan bagged only the fourth 10-wicket match haul by a Bangladesh bowler in Tests, bringing Bangladesh closer to another historic moment.

Shakib bowled Glenn Mazwell in the first ball after the lunch break to bag his fifth wicket of the innings – to go with five for 68 in the first innings -- which left Australia with two wickets in hand and 63 more to get.

Bangladesh's first 10-wicket haul was taken by Enamul Haque Jnr in January 2005 as the left-armer had figures of seven for 95 and five for 105 as Bangladesh drew the match against Zimbabwe and won the series.

It was Shakib, unsurprisingly, who gifted the country its second 10-wicket match haul when he took five for 80 and five for 44 to subject Zimbabwe to a 162-run defeat in 2014.

But it was Bangladesh's third 10-wicket match haul, by Mehedi Hasan Miraz, that is perhaps most famous because it delivered a historic win over England in October 2016. The venue? The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Mehedi's six for 82 and six for 77 to condemn England to a 108-run loss and a share of the two-match series.

Less than a year on, Shakib's tenner may be as, if not more, important because his performance puts Bangladesh on the cusp of a 1-0 lead over Australia, and a chance to win their first ever Test series over a side other than Zimbabwe or a weakened West Indies side in 2009.
