Shakib to be honoured with World Cricket Committee membership
The Marylebone Cricket Club (M.C.C) wishes to appoint Bangladesh's premium all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as a member of the World Cricket Committee.
The prestigious MCC, founded in 1787 is the owner of the Lord's cricket ground and has the sole authority on the laws of the game of cricket.
Some of the greatest names in cricket are current or ex-members of MCC's World Cricket Committee and Shakib joins a list that contains players like Kumar Sangakkara, Steve Waugh, Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting.
Shakib posted a picture of the letter of appointment that was sent to him by the MCC. The top-ranked all-rounder was delighted with the honour that was bestowed upon him. He wrote in the photo caption: "I truly feel humbled that you have chosen me to be a member of the Prestigious MCC World Cricket Committee. Thank you for bestowing me with such an honour."
The letter read that Shakib's membership will come into effect from October 1, 2017. The MCC holds two annual meetings where they discuss prevalent issues of the game. MCC's World Cricket committee acts as a complementary body to ICC and its constituent nations.
