Shakib fined fifty percent of match fee over umpire row
On-field tantrums are becoming a regular affair in this season's BPL and yesterday's match between Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians saw Dynamites skipper Shakib Al Hasan lose his temper.
After Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das were fined for their altercation with the umpire, this time it was Shakib who became furious with a decision.
During a tightly contested affair, Shakib showed his rage to a decision by umpire Ranmore Martinesz. The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the ninth over when Shakib's delivery pitched on leg-middle and turned back to hit Imrul Kayes's pad. Shakib went up in a confident appeal and was denied by the Sri Lankan umpire. Shakib directed a few harsh words at the umpire in rage before kicking the ground in frustration.
Shakib has been fined fifty percent of his match fees and also accumulated three demerit points.
The player admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee Samiur Rahman and, as such, there will be no need for a formal hearing.
Comilla Victorians pacer Hasan Ali was also punished for pointing the way to the dressing room after dismissing Mosaddek Hossain in the same match. He was fined 30 per cent of his match fee.
